Frequently Asked Questions

- Counselling sessions last for 50 minutes.
- A session of EMDR lasts 60 minutes
This depends on the nature of your difficulty. It also depends on your commitment to change. People change at different rates and there are no right or wrong time periods as some people adapt to change more quickly or slowly than others. Making changes in your life is not always easy and is the reason that you are experiencing difficulties.
The number of sessions of EMDR you might need can vary. For some it might be only one or two sessions and for others it may be more. You can discuss this with your therapist when you make contact. EMDR sessions are 60 minutes long. It is possible to have sessions that are longer.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy treatment that was originally designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories, is often used to help alleviate depression, anxiety, and help clients recover from physical, emotional and sexual abuse and domestic violence. It is also helpful for clients struggling with grief.
EMDR is recognised by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as a treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and the World Health Organisation (WHO).
