Samaritans Awareness Day 24 July

Samaritans Awareness Day – 24 July

Samaritans Awareness Day takes place every year on 24 July, also known as “The Big Listen”. The date (24/7) highlights the vital message that the Samaritans are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, offering confidential emotional support to anyone who is struggling to cope, their number is 116 123.

This awareness day helps to raise awareness and essential funding for the Samaritans service, ensuring that support remains available to people day and night, whenever it is needed most. Throughout July, Samaritans branches across the UK and Ireland hold events and campaigns to share the message that no one has to face difficult feelings alone.

Samaritans Awareness Day is a reminder of the power of listening without judgement. A simple conversation can make a meaningful difference to someone experiencing stress, anxiety, loneliness, grief, or emotional distress. The Samaritans continue to provide a safe and compassionate space for people to talk freely and be heard.
